Outright Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain travel north on Saturday to face an RC Lens side that have suffered just one league defeat on home soil all season.
Following promotion in 2020 Lens finished a remarkable seventh place in France’s top flight last season – the only downside was that their northern neighbours Lille claimed the title, much to PSG’s chagrin as well.
Here’s all you need to know about the meeting between these two side with a shared enemy.

Lens team news
Lens’ joint-top scorer Wesley Saïd is tentatively easing his way back from a hamstring injury. However, frequent substitute Deiver Machado isn’t likely to add to his seven cameo appearances any time soon after suffering a left lateral meniscal tear that is set to sideline him for up to two more months.
Lens predicted lineup: Leca; Gradit, Danso, Medina; Clauss, Doucoure, Fofana, Frankowski; Kakuta; Ganago, Kalimuendo
PSG team news
In the final stages of a match PSG had already won, a firm challenge from Saint-Etienne’s Yvann Macon has ruled Neymar out of action for as many as eight weeks.
While Julian Draxler has sought specialist treatment for a muscle injury, both midfielders Ander Herrera (hamstring) and Georginio Wijnaldum (knee) are expected back in the week leading up to the upcoming away trip. Whether either of the pair will be thrown straight into the action is another matter entirely.
Lens vs PSG head-to-head record
PSG’s most recent visit to Lens’ Stade Bollaert-Delelis ended in a shock defeat for their first game of the previous campaign. A COVID-depleted squad was robbed of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Angel Di Maria, Marquinhos and Mauro Icardi barely two weeks after losing the Champions League final to Bayern Munich.
That is the only victory Lens have claimed in the past 11 Ligue 1 iterations of this head to head. However, PSG have returned to France’s capital with a full three points just three times in their last 15 visits to Pas-de-Calais.
Lens vs PSG score prediction
PSG’s star-studded cadre of attacking talent – sans Neymar – were held to a stalemate in midweek by Nice. Lens sit just one place and two points behind PSG’s frustraters though don’t quite boast the same parsimonious defence as Ligue 1’s tightest rearguard.
While it won’t be a hapless trampling, PSG – as they are for every Ligue 1 match given the vast divide in a division which they already lead by 12 clear points – are favourites.
Prediction: Lens 1-3 PSG
