Super Eagles and Fortuna Dusseldorf of Germany owned goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has arrived in Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam for contract talks with the six-time Dutch champions.
The “fine Boy” goalkeeper as he is being fondly called in Nigeria can begin contract talks with other clubs even without the approval of Fortuna Düsseldorf because his contract with the German side will expire at the end of next month.
The 20-year-old goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and his agent, Fardy Bachdim were spotted at the Het Kasteel on Friday afternoon. They were there for a conversation with Rotterdam technical manager Henk van Stee. He revealed that no term was agreed after the initial round of talks with Ban Stee but he hinted that he could be playing in the Eredivisie next season.
In the exception of Sparta Rotterdam, the young goalkeeper is also attracting interest from other European clubs.
Okoye has been representing the youth sides of Fortuna Düsseldorf since 2017. He had played for Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
The Score Nigeria recalls that Maduka Okoye, 20 made his first debut for the Nigeria national team in the friendly game against Brazil in October 13, 2019.
He took to his social media page to share his amazing moment as 20-year-old make his first debut for Super Eagles under coach Gernot Rohr.
“Glad to have made my debut for Nigeria 🦅!
It’s a dream come true playing for my beloved country 🇳🇬.
