Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Jose Peseiro as new Super Eagles coach but will not lead Nigeria to AFCON tournament in Cameroon.
Peseiro replace German coach, Gernot Rohr who was sacked by NFF on 13 December, 2021.
NFF confirm that Austin Eguavoen who is the interim head coach will lead the Super Eagles to AFCON 2021 in Cameroon.
Peseiro will “only play role of Observer” during the tournament while Eguavoen will return to his role as Technical Director after the tournament.

Jose Vitor dos Santos Peseiro is Portuguese football manager and former player who coach Porto, Braga and Sporting Lisbon.
Peseiro played as striker during his time.

He work as an assistant coach for Real Madrid in 2003
Peseiro coach Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia before he went to Braga in Portugal from 2009 to 2011
The 61-year-old Super Eagles manager has also coach Saudi Arabian national team.
Jose Peseiro had experience in Africa also as he coaches African club, like Al Ahly of Egypt.
He also coaches Venezuela national team before he take up the new role as Nigeria Super Eagles new manager.
