Woodward lowers Pogba asking price
Manchester United chief Ed Woodward has lowered his asking price for Paul Pogba ahead of the summer transfer window.
The France international has been tipped to quit Old Trafford at the end of the season.
And according to Italian outlet Tuttosport, United are ready to cash in on Pogba this summer.
United executive vice-chairman Woodward has lowered his asking price for Pogba from £150m to £100m due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Red Devils know clubs will not be paying huge transfer fees this summer after the deadly virus halted world football.
Tuttosport adds that Juventus, Real Madrid, PSG, and Inter Milan are eyeing Pogba ahead of the summer window.
Roberto Firmino to Barcelona backed
Barcelona should move to sign Roberto Firmino as opposed to Lautaro Martinez, in the view of former striker Bojan.
“Inter Milan does not usually take the initiative and that makes me think that Lautaro could occupy an area at Barca that is not naturally his,” Bojan said.
“[That is] something that would certainly be a shame.
“If you allow me a name, I would bet more on Roberto Firmino: a link player, with a lot of presence and great mobility.
“I do not intend that this reflection be interpreted as a refusal to sign Martinez, but I understand that his profile must be analyzed very well because it would be unforgivable that, as happened with Antoine Griezmann, we sign a striker to put him on the wing and then complain that it doesn’t work.
“That cannot happen again because, although it seems obvious, a nine is a nine.
“That is his natural habitat and to move him from there is to waste his talent. If Barca needs a nine, sign him, but do it to really use him.”
Paul Pogba tipped to stay at Man Utd
Gary Neville has backed Paul Pogba to stay at Manchester United despite interest from Real Madrid and Juventus.
The Old Trafford hero reckons United’s recent signings will convince Pogba to stay.
“The direction all season of Pogba’s career was always facing away from Manchester in the sense that there were so much speculation and his agent was coming out all the time,” he said.
“And now with what’s happened, coronavirus and the economic reset in football, what clubs are going to be able to buy Paul Pogba for the reputed £80m, £100m fees that were being thrown around?
“Which clubs are going to be paying the huge wages he’s on at Manchester United?
“I’m not diminishing him as a player, I’m just talking about the economic situation the whole world finds itself in.
“Paul Pogba may have to, and may want to, sit at Manchester United for the next 12 to 18 months, and look at the fact he’s at a club he can play with Bruno Fernandes, Fred, (Scott) McTominay, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka, De Gea, Rashford, Greenwood.”
Man Utd transfer target learning English
Manchester United and Chelsea transfer target Federico Chiesa is reportedly learning English in preparation for a potential move to the Premier League.
Fiorentina director-general Joe Barone recently revealed that a number of clubs are monitoring La Viola’s star winger and the latest development suggests a transfer could be on the horizon.
Seven goals and five assists in all competitions this term have put the winger on the radar of several European clubs, with United and Chelsea thought to be leading the chase.
And the Daily Mail reports that Chiesa is taking English lessons in order to avoid being caught unprepared in the instance of a move to the UK.
Liverpool lead Koulibaly transfer race
Liverpool leads the race to sign Kalidou Koulibaly this summer after Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United both pulled out of the running, French outlet Le10 Sport claim.
They say PSG will instead prioritize signing Thiago Silva to a new contract instead.
Koulibaly is one of the most valuable defenders in the world, with Napoli previously demanding £88million (€100m) for the centre-back.
However, with United and PSG pulling out of the race to sign Koulibaly, Liverpool is in pole position to land the Senegal international.
They add that Newcastle is also interested, with the Toon ready to make a mammoth offer this summer.
