Denmark defeated Wales 4-0 to through to the quarter-final of Euro 2020 tournament in Amsterdam on Saturday evening
Dolberg open scoring for Danish in the 27 minutes of play in the half time to put Denmark in the lead.
Dolberg scored his brace after he slice the ball into the back of the Wales net in 48 minutes in the second half.
Dolberg scored twice (double) as Denmark beat Wales 4-0 in the 2020 European Champions in Amsterdam.
Inside the opening ten minutes, Wales summoned the spirit of 2016 with their first real chance of the match. Gareth Bale received the ball from Aaron Ramsey on the right-hand side and as the Danish back five invited Bale to shoot, the Welshman duly obliged, fizzing a left-footed strike just wide of Kasper Schmeichel’s far post from 20-yards out.
Just ten minutes later the momentum shift was acutely apparent with Mikkel Damsgaard beginning to pull the strings. Wales did not react to the Danes’ extra impetus and were punished when on 26 minutes Kasper Dolberg picked up the ball on the edge of the box and unleashed an unstoppable curling effort beyond the despairing dive of Danny Ward.
Moments after the restart, Wales were caught cold. Martin Braithwaite just managed to keep the ball in play on the right-hand touchline and drove at the retreating Ben Davies before flashing a cross to the back post. Substitute Neco Williams’ attempted clearance landed right at the feet of Dolgberg who lashed in to double the Danes’ lead for his second of the match.
Wales failed to generate any form of sustained pressure and Denmark compounded their misery adding two late goals through Joakim Mæhle and Braithwaite either side of Harry Wilson being sent off for a reckless challenge. Denmark became the first team in Euros history to reach the knockouts after losing their first two matches and this win further cemented their place in the record books as they expertly nullified the Welsh threat to comfortably sail through to the quarter-finals.
Other goal scorers – Marble and Braithwaite scored the last goal in the game to secure Danish quarter-finals ticket.
