Chelsea are reportedly keen on acquiring the services of the 24-year-old Real Madrid star midfielder Federico Valverde.
According to Defense Central, Chelsea are desperate to land Federico Valverde at the club ahead of next season. Their new manager Mauricio Pochettino is a big fan of the 24-year-old Real Madrid midfielder and would love to have him at his disposal.
The Uruguayan international has been a part of Real Madrid since the summer of 2016. He has come up the ranks at the club and established himself as a key player in the first team. As far as the 2022/23 season is concerned, the Madrid midfielder has featured in 56 matches and has been involved in 19 goals.
He found the back of the net on 12 occasions and has seven assists to his name. The 24-year-old has been used as a central midfielder as well as a right winger. And, his versatility is what makes him a very important player for Carlo Ancelotti.
Valverde has been in sensational form over the last few seasons and is considered an important part of their plans moving ahead. His contract with Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2027 and they have no plans of letting him leave. However, they are listening to potential offers for the 24-year-old’s services.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are keen on having the Uruguayan international in their ranks. Their manager is a big admirer of the 24-year-old and believes his style could be of great use to the club. Box-to-box midfielders have done wonders in the Premier League over the years, and he could be a great asset for the Blues.
Pochettino is desperate to have him and is pushing Chelsea to make the best possible offer for the Real Madrid midfielder. The West London club initially put forward an offer of €100 million for the versatile midfielder. But, with Real Madrid not really interested in offloading the 24-year-old, the Blues have pushed it to €120 million plus another €20 million in add-ons.
However, even this offer might not be good enough to prise him away. Valverde is keen on continuing in Real Madrid and might not be tempted irrespective of the offer. He is a key player in Ancelotti’s setup, and the Italian manager wants him at the club next season. As a result, Chelsea might have to produce an offer of a lifetime to pull off this transfer.
