Andre Ayew scores twice to help Ghana beat Sudan 2-0 in AFCON qualifiers

Swansea City winger and the Black Stars of Ghana captain Andre Ayew scored brace to help Ghana beat Sudan 2-0 in the 3rd round of Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Thursday at Cape Coast.

Championship club side winger, 30, Dede Ayew score his first goal in the game just 19 minutes after the match kicked off to put Ghana in an early lead, as the go into the break with 1-0 lead over Sudan.

Ayew scored his brace at 81 minutes of play to secure Ghana a 2-0 win over Sudan in the Total Africa Cup of Nations qualification for 2021 tournament in Cameroon.

Ghana record three straight win in the AFCON qualifying games in the Group C leading the table with 9 points as South Africa is beneath with 3 points.

Ghana defeat Sudan 2-0 at Cape Coast on Thursday, November 12 to top Group C table in the AFCON 2021 qualifier.

“It wasn’t t the best of performance but I am very happy for what we have produced today. We kept a clean sheet and that’s the most important thing. We are expecting some players tonight who will join us for the return leg in Sudan.”

“There are a number of positives to pick from the game. A player like Nettey played for the first time and he did well. All he needs is another chance.”

“I feel good, I am grateful to the players for showing a lot of commitment. The preparation was a difficult situation but in the end we won and it feels good.”

In the interview session we heard with the Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew who secure Ghana a 2-0 win over Sudan on Thursday says, “These are hard times for the family but we wish them well. May God comfort and bless them.”

“I think we fought hard to get a win in honour of His Excellency J.J Rawlings. We know the history and his contribution to the growth of Ghana so the win is dedicated to him.”

“I think we need to try and defend as a team, stay compact and take our chances as it happened today,” he said.

Ayew believe that Ghana can perform better than they did today but they manage to defend the two goals scored and defend very well in order not conceded a goal.
