Chelsea complete signing of new goalkeeper

CHELSEA Under-18s goalkeeper Jack Austin has signed his first professional contract, the Blues have announced on the club website this week after the young man impressed the coaching staff.

The Blues posted on the club website: ‘Jack joined the Blues at the end of his Under-14s season following a spell with Cambridge United. He has progressed through the age groups and last term helped our Under-17s win the Premier League Cup after defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

‘He has featured for our Under-18s this season against Brighton & Hove Albion, Arsenal and Leicester City and signed his pro deal after celebrating his 17th birthday.

‘Congratulations, Jack!’

We have seen in recent years that there are many players at Chelsea that have been unable to break their way into that first team having been at the club since they were very young, so Austin will be hoping that is not the case for him.

He has been at Chelsea for a good few seasons now and earning this massive contract is the first step into living his dream of playing for the Blues first team at some point.

But he will probably spent the next few seasons out on loan in order to get some needed game time, and if he is ready, he will get a chance at Chelsea.

However – he may also not get that chance and will need to consider whether staying at CHELSEA for the long run or trying to make it away from the club needs to happen, he is thrilled right now, but the future has all sorts of questions that will determine whether he makes it in the professional game, or he doesnt.
