He's not ready - Enzo Maresca confirms Reece James returns

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided an update on the fitness of club captain Reece James, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.

James, who has struggled with injuries throughout his career, has yet to feature for the Blues this season after picking up the injury during pre-season training.

Maresca addressed the media, stating, "His injury is a bit delayed. The most important thing is players come back when they are 100% fit. Reece is still out. Unfortunately, we don't have an idea at the moment [when he’ll be back]. In this case, he’s been very unlucky.”

Recent Injury and Recovery

Reece James has been dealing with a recurring hamstring issue that has kept him out of action for significant periods over the past few seasons. The 24-year-old underwent surgery in December 2023 to address the problem, but setbacks have continued to plague his recovery. Despite his efforts to return to full fitness, James has been unable to make a competitive appearance this season.
