Chelsea set to make the same mistake after transfer bid for star player emerged

Chelsea have not been afraid under the new ownership to make some decisions which may not go down well with the entire fanbase.

The owners have at times made themselves unpopular with some sections of Chelsea supporters as they look to take their ambitious project into the future.

Chelsea set to make the same mistake after transfer bid for star player emerged

Chelsea fans made their feelings known about Conor Gallagher when there was a great effort to sell him over the summer, with him eventually moving on to Atletico Madrid in part exchange for Joao Felix.

Reports from the time stated that the England international had been frozen out of first-team duties, and it has been claimed this is set to happen to another player in the coming games.

Josh Acheampong frozen out at Chelsea

It has been claimed that Josh Acheampong will not feature for either the first team or any of the development sides until his contract situation is resolved.

Acheampong’s current deal is set to expire in 2026, and the owners have made it clear that they will not allow players to enter the last year of their contract without clarity over their future.

It has previously been reported that sides like Real Madrid are interested in signing Acheampong, and the quality of the interested parties suggests that they could be about to lose a real talent if he leaves.

This seems to be backed up by the manager’s thoughts on the player. Enzo Maresca described Acheampong as ‘fantastic’ during pre-season. However, he hasn’t really been given a shot at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have already let a number of top full-backs leave in the last few seasons, with them go on to enjoy very solid starts to their career.

Chelsea have made potential Acheampong mistake before

Tino Livramento left the club without featuring in the Premier League, with him now on the cusp of a call-up to the England national team.

This would give the new England manager the chance to work with the player after Tuchel admitted he didn’t want Livramento to leave the club he was in charge of at the time in the first place.

Also at Newcastle United, Lewis Hall is currently enjoying plenty of minutes after breaking into the first team at Stamford Bridge under Graham Potter.

Chelsea have been guilty of letting talented full-backs leave early in their careers before, and would be making the same mistake if they did so with Acheampong.
