Chelsea receive greenlight to sign 25-year-old top target in January

Chelsea have reportedly received greenlight to push for the acquisition of one of their last summer targets.

The Blues were one of the ambitious clubs during the summer transfer market - signing whichever player they wanted. Some of the big names they added were Pedro Neto, Jadon Sancho, Dewsbury Hall and Joao Felix. It would have been a colossal transfer if they had succeeded in signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

However, Chelsea remain very keen on adding the 25-year-old Nigerian to their ranks and could do that during the January transfer market following a confirmation from Napoli director Mauro Meluso that the striker is free to leave.

The former Lille striker made it clear to his bosses in Napoli that he wished to move on from the Italian outfit at the end of last season. While the striker’s future was the subject of intense speculation throughout the summer, with Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ahli all willing to sign him, it was Turkish side Galatasaray that secured his signature, but only on temporary basis.

Already Osimhen has hit the ground running in Turkey, with two goals and two assists in his first three appearances in the Super Lig. However, a move still beckons for the Nigeria international as he is reportedly willing to make a move to Chelsea - as revealed by Metro UK.

According to Metro UK, Osimhen’s £109m release clause ceased to be active when he completed a temporary move to Galatasaray and the prolific attacker could be available for just £68m come January.

According to the report, speaking about Osimhen at the Palermo Football Conference this week, Napoli director said: ‘He no longer wanted to be part of the first-team. "He is free to leave."

He continued by saying that ‘It was a last-minute solution for Osimhen to join Galatasaray as they never wanted him to lose the first three months of the season.

Further speaking, he concluded by saying We will see in January.’
