What Jadon Sancho said ahead of his Chelsea debut against Bournemouth

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has expressed his delight at the arrival of Jadon Sancho, emphasizing the winger's importance to the team’s tactics, particularly in breaking down defensive teams.

Speaking to the media, Maresca highlighted Sancho's ability to make a difference in one-on-one situations, a quality Chelsea values highly.

“I’m very happy to have Sancho at Chelsea,” Maresca said. “He’s here because we like that kind of player who can help in 1vs1 situations.”

Sancho, known for his dribbling skills and creativity, is expected to play a key role in Chelsea’s attacking setup, especially when facing teams that defend deep.

The winger has a proven track record of unlocking defenses with his pace and flair, and Maresca believes his skillset is crucial for Chelsea to break through low blocks.

“He’s key—especially against a low block, we need him,” Maresca added, referring to teams that often sit back and defend in numbers against Chelsea.

Sancho’s move to Stamford Bridge has been seen as a fresh opportunity for the English winger, who had struggled for form and consistency at Manchester United.

Now under the guidance of Maresca, the 24-year-old is expected to thrive in Chelsea’s system, where his one-on-one ability will be put to good use.
