Enzo Maresca reveals the truth on Chelsea pre-season friendly failure to sign Victor Osimhen

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed the truth on the club's failure to secure Victor Osimhen's signature during the recent transfer window. Despite Chelsea's determined efforts to land the striker on deadline day, the deal fell through. Osimhen is believed to have rejected multiple offers from the Blues.

According to report from the nation, in a press conference after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace in the Premier League, Maresca explained the situation. He emphasized that while the club is keen on bringing in new players, they only do so under their own terms. “We want players, but only those who meet our conditions,” Maresca stated. “If a player isn’t here, it means the terms weren’t right for us.”

When asked whether Chelsea might reconsider their pursuit of Osimhen in the January transfer window, Maresca was non-committal. He acknowledged that things could change but preferred to focus on the immediate future. “We’ll see from now until January,” he said. “I don’t know how many games we have until then, but as I’ve said before, I prefer to concentrate on the upcoming days. We’ll reassess in January.”

Maresca’s comments suggest that while Chelsea remains interested in Osimhen, any future moves will depend on whether the conditions are favorable for the club. This indicates that Chelsea is not willing to compromise on its terms, even for a player of Osimhen’s caliber. The situation remains fluid, and the club may revisit the possibility of signing him in the future, depending on how circumstances evolve.
