Chelsea could sign £25m talented player in January transfer

Chelsea are reportedly already looking at a £25m-rated youngster as a priority transfer target for the January window.

It’s been pretty obvious under these Chelsea owners that the club are prepared to invest heavily in young stars for the future. When you look around the current Blues squad, there’s so much youth and potential.

There’s been a continuous steam of young talents arrive at Stamford Bridge in the last few windows, and only time will tell how successful this strategy is.

Chelsea looking at Patrick Dorgu as a January priority

According to CaughtOffside this week, Chelsea increasingly like youngster Patrick Dorgu from Serie A Italian club Leece.

It is explained that the Blues could end up making the 19-year-old talent a priority when the January transfer window comes around in a few months time.

The report adds that Enzo Maresca’s side have been closely tracking the Denmark international. In fact, they’ve even requested information on the teenager ahead of the winter window.

Incidentally, Calcio Lecce reported back in July that Lecce valued their Dorgu at €30m (£25.3m) amid interest from Premier League giants Chelsea and Tottenham.

Who is Patrick Dorgu?

Dorgu may be a name unfamiliar to English audiences, so who is the Leece youngster?

At the age of 19, Dorgu is already establishing himself as a regular for Leece in the Italian top division. Also, he’s now forced his way into the Denmark side, scoring on his senior international debut last week.

The youngster’s a versatile left-footer still learning his best position on the pitch. So far, we’ve seen him play a mixture of left-back and left wing in his short career.

When you look at Chelsea’s options in his areas of the pitch, it does make his potential signing a bit odd.

The Blues currently have Marc Cucurella and Renato Veiga as their main options at left-back. Meanwhile, they can use attackers such as Jadon Sancho, Mykhailo Mudryk or Joao Felix on the left wing.
