Aaron Anselmino has re-joined Boca Juniors on loan from Chelsea

When Aaron Anselmino's permanent move from Boca Juniors to Chelsea was confirmed earlier this month, it was revealed that he would spend the 2024/25 campaign on loan in Argentina.

Anselmino became the Blues' ninth signing of the summer after signing a seven-year contract in England. He joined for a reported £15.6million, adding to the list of wonderkids signed by Clearlake Capital.

The club confirmed upon his arrival that Anselmino would 'continue his development' in Argentina before returning to London in 12 months' time. However, reports in South America have claimed that his move to Chelsea has led to an unwanted problem at Boca.

Journalists Augusto Cesar, Luis Fregossi and Chicho Grosman have claimed that the decision to formally announce Anselmino's permanent transfer has led to him being unavailable for selection.

Prior to the confirmation of his move, Boca were understood to be concerned over getting him registered in time for the Copa Sudamericana. When Anselmino was their player, they weren't forced to register them, but now he's technically a Chelsea player, they have to register the defender.

"Boca has removed Aaron Anselmino from the Copa Sudamericana roster," Cesar told ESPN. "The transfer was sent, and Boca is now waiting for the loan approval to be able to use him in the local tournament.

"The defender is already a legal player of the English club. The centre-back will not play the series with Cruzeiro."

Fregossi added: "Aaron Anselmino is removed from the Copa Sudamericana roster. He misses the duel with Cruzeiro. It's all because Chelsea sent the transfer." Speaking on TyC Sports, Grosman continued: "The famous transfer arrived and Anselmino is now officially a Chelsea player on loan at Boca.

"If they make it to the quarter-finals, Anselmino will be one of the three changes, but he will miss the round of 16 against Cruzeiro."
