Palmer returns, Enzo shine, Nkunku struggle, Chelsea players vs Inter

Cole Palmer

Chelsea have finished their 2024 pre-season campaign with a 1-1 draw with Inter Milan at a boiling hot Stamford Bridge.

Marcus Thuram gave Inter the lead in the first-half with a fabulous finish on 26 minutes. That looked as if it was going to be the end of the scoring but a 90th minute Lesley Ugochukwu goal earned the Blues a well deserved draw.

Below, Bobby Vincent rates the Chelsea players that featured in the second-half.

Robert Sanchez - Very quiet second-half. 6.

Malo Gusto - Dangerous on the overlap. Had Federico Di Marco pinned back for the majority of the second period. 6.

Wesley Fofana - Better than in the first-half. Composed on the ball. It will take him some time to get back to his very best. 6.

Levi Colwill - Improved from the first-half. It wasn't at its best today, but there is certainly potential in a Colwill and Fofana centre-back partnership. 6.

Renato Veiga - Puts a crunching challenge in on 65 minutes that the Stamford Bridge crowd loved. Nice to see him actually on the pitch. 6.

Enzo Fernandez - Thought he did really well today. Looked really dangerous in possession. 6.5.

Moises Caicedo - Aggressive. Everywhere. Bit sloppy in possession at times but a very decent performance. 6.

Cole Palmer - Such excitement every time he touched the ball. Didn't quite make the impact he would have wanted but we could still see his class out there. He will just keep getting better and better.

Misses a big chance with 10 minutes left. Bright, though. 6.

Mykhailo Mudryk - Tried to get involved but either was not fed enough or not getting in the right positions. 5.5.

Christopher Nkunku - So close to goal of the season. In pre-season? Is that a thing?

Anyway, really, really bright. He has been superb over the summer and looks set for a really exciting season. 7.

Marc Guiu - Didn't last long in the second-half. Looked like he ran himself into the ground. But a decent performance overall from the teenage Spaniard. 6.

Substitutes

Nicolas Jackson - Came on just 10 minutes into the second-half for his first outing of the pre-season. Rusty. 5.5.

Benoit Badiashile - Won some duels. N/A.

Tosin Adarabioyo - Did fine. N/A.

Raheem Sterling - On for 15 minutes at the end. N/A.

Lesley Ugochuwku - The latest of goals. Some finish. He has had a really strong pre-season. 7.5.
