According to Football.london, Chelsea may finally secure a high-profile striker transfer following a decision by Newcastle United.
The Blues have been in touch with several forwards, including Jhon Duran and Jonathan David, and Alexander Isak has also become a potential target.
Isak, who had an impressive season with 25 goals, had his asking price set around £200 million. While Arsenal also showed interest in the Sweden international, the financial demands made a deal seem nearly impossible.
However, Newcastle’s need to address profit and sustainability regulations led to a frantic effort to offload players. Liverpool were offered the chance to acquire Anthony Gordon for £75 million with Joe Gomez going the other way. Brighton's signing of Yankuba Minteh for £30 million helped balance their books.
During this period of upheaval, Chelsea explored the possibility of signing Isak but faced a firm stance from Newcastle and a hefty asking price. With Newcastle resolving their financial issues, Chelsea’s interest in Isak waned, shifting their focus to Samu Omorodion.
Initially, Chelsea was told that acquiring the 20-year-old would cost £70 million, but they later reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid to sign him for half that amount. Conor Gallagher subsequently joined Atletico Madrid for £33.7 million, which opened up negotiations for Omorodion.
This successful negotiation could set a precedent for Chelsea as Newcastle has shown interest in Noni Madueke, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. On his Here We Go podcast, Romano noted that while Madueke remains part of Chelsea's plans, a compelling offer could make a transfer feasible.
Should Newcastle make an offer, Chelsea might pursue a deal for Isak with Madueke potentially moving to St James' Park. Such a transfer would be a significant achievement for Chelsea, particularly as they still seek another striker alongside Omorodion.
Additionally, discussions about a loan deal for Napoli's Victor Osimhen are ongoing. Napoli remains interested in Romelu Lukaku, and Osimhen has been left out of Napoli's squad, with plans suggesting he will be elsewhere for the 2024/25 season.
