As of 2024, Chelsea have a phenomenal squad which is brimming with talent. Infact, it will not be an exaggeration to suggest that they have one of the best squads in Europe today.
Last season's team was already incredibly talented but having added a whooping 9 more players to the squad, there are more talents to keep an eye on. In this article, I will be making a list of the players to watch in the Blues' upcoming premier league campaign. This is only the first part of the article so follow this channel to see when part two drops.
1. Pedro Neto
The Portuguese winger joined Chelsea from Wolves in a deal worth up to £65 million. Neto comes highly rated and was considered by Arsenal, City, and Liverpool for a long time before joining the Blues this summer.
Neto is a speedy and direct winger who racked up about 10 assists in the Premier League last season. Having joined Chelsea, he has a lot to prove and will have to fight for a starting shirt in a position brimming with exceptional players.
2. Noni Madueke
The English winger has impressed many during the preseason campaign where he picked up 3 goals and a further 2 assists. Madueke has shown Enzo Maresca how good he is on the right hand side of the pitch so it will be interesting to see what the Italian has in store for the 21-year-old.
Keep an eye on him and Neto because a battle could ensue between the players for a spot on the right-wing.
3. Malo Gusto
This is Malo Gusto's season. The French right-back enjoyed ample game time during James' off year but with news that the Captain's injury worries have returned, Gusto could yet again steal the show at right back.
Gusto will have to use this opportunity to cement his spot at the team's number 1 right back before James' return. Watch out for the youngster as anything could happen with Enzo Maresca.
4. Christopher Nkunku
Nkunku missed last year through injury and only returned towards the latter end of the season, scoring a few goals. He has impressed during the preseason and has set himself up for what could be an impactful campaign.
With Palmer, Neto, Madueke, and Enzo all creating chances, the French forward might get the chance to score a lot of goals.
5. Cole Palmer
The English midfielder has proven himself to be one of the fastest rising talents in the Premier League after becoming the only player to be nominated for bothe the PFA player of the year and PFA young player of the year award.
Palmer contributed a total of 40 goals and assists in 45 appearances last season and was rewarded with a new 9-year contract and a significant pay rise. He is one to watch because it will be exciting to see how Enzo Maresca fits him into the squad and if he can keep his momentum going for another year.
