Spain 'seeking revenge against England in Euro 2024 final

According to Metro, Spain's media is highlighting a narrative of unfinished business with Cole Palmer ahead of their Euro 2024 final showdown against England on Sunday.

The upcoming final between England and Spain echoes last summer's UEFA European Under-21 Championship final, where Palmer's deflected free kick secured England's 1-0 victory over Spain, marking their first title in the tournament since 1984.

However, Palmer's goal was not without controversy. His celebratory gesture, particularly directed towards Spain's substitutes and coaching staff, sparked a heated altercation on the touchline. This led to England coach Ashley Cole and Spain's fitness coach Carlos Rivera being sent off amid the brawl between players and staff.

Alex Baena remains the sole survivor from Spain's Under-21 squad at Euro 2024. Despite the passage of time, Spanish radio station Cadena COPE hasn't forgotten Palmer's role in the incident. They suggest that Luis de la Fuente's team is motivated to settle the score in Sunday's final.

Reflecting on the incident, Palmer acknowledged the controversy surrounding his celebration, stating, "The celebration was maybe a bit over the top but [I'm] just happy." He emphasized his frustration with Spain's antics during the match, contributing to the tense atmosphere.

While Palmer has yet to start a match for England at Euro 2024, his impact off the bench has been noteworthy. Looking ahead to the final against Spain, he expressed the magnitude of the upcoming clash, drawing parallels to their previous encounter in the Under-21 final.

"I can't imagine this one," Palmer remarked, underscoring the significance of the upcoming final in the context of their previous encounters.
