Please Don't Loan Him: Chelsea fans beg club not to loan youngster this summer

While the pre-season campaign is an opportunity to see how the first team are going to lineup next season, it is also a chance to see if anyone forces themselves into the new manager’s plans.

Enzo Maresca looks keen to get a look at everyone available to him in a plethora of friendlies, and this began with the 2-2 draw with Wrexham.

It was almost a completely changed side for each half, as the side got accustomed to the style of football they may well be playing next season at Stamford Bridge.

Reece James was one of those playing in a new role, however the story of the game was the impact some of the youngsters made on proceedings.


One of those who really impressed was striker Marc Guiu. Chelsea fans in particular were a big fan of his performance in the first half.

Chelsea fans plead to keep Marc Guiu

After a post was dedicated to him on Chelsea’s official Instagram page, supporters came out and said they were desperate to see him stay at the club rather than be loaned out this summer.


One user said: “He showed great ability yesterday with his hold up and link up play. i’d love for him to get some playing time during the season.”

Another added: “Train him until he becomes like Alvarez, give him lots of playing minutes and compete with Jackson. If he is better than Jackson and his finishing is good then make him the main player!”

A third claimed: “This kids going to be special, the way he moved yesterday was very promising.”

Another stated: “Don’t loan him Chels.”

Finally, one user said: “Don’t loan out.”

Despite the relatively low fee he joined the club for, there is plenty of excitement over what Guiu can bring to his new club.

Marc Cucurella thinks Guiu is ‘great’

He has previously been described as ‘great’ by new teammate Marc Cucurella, and Barcelona were gutted to see him leave.

The Spaniard will likely get more than enough opportunities to impress during the plethora of fixtures that await the Blues this summer, starting this weekend when they take on Celtic.

While the result always come secondary, there will no doubt be an appetite to get their first win of the summer under Maresca.
