How Marc Cucurella convince Nico Williams to join Chelsea

Marc Cucurella and Nico Williams celebrate for Spain.

Marc Cucurella has revealed he’s been speaking to Spain team-mate Nico Williams every day at Euro 2024, telling him to join the Blues.

Cucurella and his Spain team-mates are preparing for Sunday’s Euro 2024 final against England in Berlin, and are appearing in their first major final since 2012.

The 25-year-old has struck up a great partnership throughout the tournament down Spain’s left hand side with Williams, and will be hoping they have one more good performance left in them.

Cucurella has been speaking to Williams about Chelsea move

Chelsea have been busy in the transfer market and have already made six summer signings with Renato Veiga’s move from FC Basel being confirmed on Friday.

The Blues are known to be in the market for a winger and Fabrizio Romano has reported that Williams would be a dream signing, but the conditions of the deal are beyond what Chelsea are prepared to pay in terms of salary.

The Blues tried to sign Michael Olise but pulled out a deal after deciding the finances involved were beyond their reach, and have subsequently been linked with the likes of Karim Adeyemi, Desire Doue and Francisco Conceicao.

Speaking before Sunday’s final Cucurella revealed he had been in daily contact with Nico Williams in Germany telling him to join Chelsea.

“I tell him every day he should come to Chelsea, he would help us a lot!, he told The Athletic.

“He is more than welcome and he knows that (laughs). But he is so young, he has to decide by himself and with his people, so it’s not time to put too many things in his head.”

Williams has a reported release clause of £43m which is a bargain for a player of his quality and he is no doubt one of the most in demand players this summer, with Barcelona also wanting to sign the Athletic Bilbao star.

Williams would certainly improve Chelsea’s attack and raise the level at the club, but currently it’s just a dream unless he decides to drop his salary demands to join the club.
