Chelsea star midfielder sends goodbye messages to fans and teammates ahead of his move

Chelsea have had another summer of change with new manager Enzo Maresca looking to take the Blues back into the Champions League next season

Conor Gallagher could be set to leave Chelsea this summer

Chelsea continue to have another busy summer transfer window as the club continue to back new manager Enzo Maresca.

Omari Kellyma, Estevao Willian, Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Caleb Wiley, Renato Veiga and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have arrived at Stamford Bridge. And more additions are expected ahead of the Blues' Premier League opener against Manchester City on August 18.

Maresca's team are currently working hard in pre-season stateside with their next fixture coming in a friendly against Club America on Thursday. Below are the latest media reports surrounding Chelsea as well as a view on each one...

Chelsea 'expect' Spurs Gallagher bid

Chelsea are said to expect a bid from Tottenham for midfielder Connor Gallagher. “Atletico Madrid are there for him, but I don’t think they’re offering enough," Sky Sports News, reporter Kaveh Solhekol said.

"I’ve been told today that Chelsea are expecting Spurs to come in for him maybe in the next couple of days or the next few weeks. When he comes back from holiday there could be some major developments.”

Football.london's Isaac Seelochan says:Gallagher clearly doesn't have much of a future at Stamford Bridge but most Chelsea fans will want him to go anywhere but London rivals Tottenham. However, if there are no other suitors and it helps the Blues from a financial perspective, the club may have no other option.

New goalkeeper deal 'close'

Chelsea are reportedly close to signing Genk goalkeeper Mike Penders. The Blues are looking to sign a new keeper this summer and Belgium journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed that a €20m (£16m) deal for Penders is close.

"Chelsea close to agree a deal with #KRCGenk for Mike Penders!" He posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Blues are offering more than 20M€ package with a percentage on the future resale.

"Genk now working on details to make the deal happen after getting an agreement in principle with BlueCo side. Penders would be loaned directly this season to the Genkies. Long term contract on the table."

Football.london's Isaac Seelochan says: A new goalkeeper should certainly not be high on Chelsea's wishlist this summer but this is exactly the type of signing made by BlueCo during their ownership. He's unproven, but if it comes off then the club will have a top-class goalkeeper for the next decade or more.

Chelsea ended the 2023/24 Premier League season on a high, but it is never quiet at Stamford Bridge and the summer looks set to be one full of news, with question marks over Mauricio Pochettino's future at the club and plenty of talk around transfers.
