Chelsea have released their new kit ahead of the new season and it has already divided opinions.
Both the Blues’ men and women’s teams are set to head into a new era under new managers Enzo Maresca and Sonia Bompastor.
And ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, Chelsea have released a new sponsorless Nike kit which includes a ‘bold new design’ that resembles an oil slick.
The vibrant blue colour is said to represent the ‘hottest part of a flame’, and a ‘burning passion to unite the entire club behind a shared ambition to succeed on and off the pitch’.
Chelsea fans have taken to social media to express divided opinions on the new kit, with one saying: ‘That is the worst kit we’ve ever had’. Another Blues fan mirrored that view as he asked: ‘What the hell is this?! Worst kit ever?’
A third fumed: ‘I have nothing to say bit this is so bad i can’t even look at this’.
However, other fans were more positive and claimed while it may not initially look good, it will look better on the players’.
‘Genuinely thought it would look better on the players’, a fourth Chelsea fan posted on X.
‘Idc what anyone says, this kit is beautiful. I’m definitely buying one for myself and some for my followers’, a fifth fan said.
Chelsea’s kit, similar to the start of last season, has no sponsor after their single-season deal with Infinite Athlete expired at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
The Blues added in their statement: ‘Retail shirts available to buy worldwide from today will have no ‘front of shirt’ branding.
‘If a “front of shirt” partner is subsequently announced in the future, fans will have the opportunity to purchase this version via the Megastore or online store.
‘Unfortunately, the club cannot offer fans the opportunity to return blank shirts for partner branding to be applied post-purchase at any retail site.’
