Tottenham Hotspur make fresh bid for Chelsea midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly preparing to make an offer for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, as the race to secure the talented 24-year-old's services intensifies.

Spurs have held a long-standing interest in Gallagher, having tracked the England international for over a year. With the summer transfer window approaching, Tottenham is now said to be ‘firmly in the mix’ to land the highly-rated midfielder.

According to recent reports, Tottenham is ‘preparing an offer’ to challenge other interested parties such as Aston Villa and Atlético Madrid for Gallagher's signature. However, it's worth noting that the player's preference is to remain at Chelsea, where he has spent his entire professional career thus far.

With Chelsea not viewing Gallagher as part of their future plans and having made no efforts to discuss a new contract, the club appears open to cashing in on the midfielder. While Chelsea initially sought to raise £50 million from Gallagher's sale, Tottenham believes a deal could be struck for closer to £40 million, given the player's current contract situation.

Conor Gallagher has established himself as a vital component of Chelsea's squad, contributing seven goals and nine assists in 50 appearances during the previous season. His performances have not gone unnoticed, as he has also become a regular fixture in Gareth Southgate's England setup.

As Tottenham aims to bolster their squad ahead of the new season, they will be keen to secure Gallagher's services early in the transfer window, ensuring they can integrate him into the team during pre-season preparations. However, it remains to be seen whether Gallagher will delay making a decision on his future until after representing England at Euro 2024 in Germany.
