Liverpool legend call Southgate to use bench key players for the rightful ones

According to reports from DAILY POST, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has urged England manager Gareth Southgate to drop two of the team's star players for their crucial final group stage match at Euro 2024.

Writing in his column for The Telegraph, Carragher said that both Phil Foden and Trent Alexander-Arnold will have to be "sacrificed" as their inclusion in the current system is not getting the best out of them or their England teammates.

"Unfortunately, two of the best Premier League footballers – Trent Alexander-Arnold and Phil Foden – will have to be sacrificed now," Carragher wrote.

"The team's set-up is not getting the best from them, or their team-mates. Introducing Alexander-Arnold into midfield in a major tournament was always a risk. It has not worked."

England currently sit top of Group C with 4 points after a 1-1 draw against Denmark on Thursday. They only need a point against Slovenia on Tuesday to secure progression to the Round of 16.

However, Carragher believes drastic changes are needed to England's lineup and formation if they are to have any chance of going deep in the tournament.

"I would like to see a 4-3-3 with Saka and Anthony Gordon either side of Kane," Carragher suggested.

"That would allow us to get the best out of our best players."
