I'm happy at Chelsea, star player reject Barcelona offer

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca will not have to worry about one of his players pushing for a move this summer.

Right now, Chelsea do have some players who probably do not want to be at the club.

Romelu Lukaku is one good example. The striker has spent the last two seasons out on loan. He is someone who would surely not say no to a permanent exit in the current transfer window.

Not everyone at Stamford Bridge, though, seems keen on leaving west London.

Chelsea star is happy at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have made a lot of signings under Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

Some have struggled, including Marc Cucurella, something the full-back has admitted.

However, Cucurella really improved towards the end of last season and now looks settled at Chelsea.

When asked about a possible return to his former club Barcelona, the 25-year-old told COPE: “Today, I don’t even think about it. It doesn’t even cross my mind. I think that’s already happened.

“You never know what can happen, but I’m not thinking about that. At Chelsea, I’ve had some difficult years, but I’m happy and my family is comfortable.”

Could Barcelona make a move for Marc Cucurella?

Cucurella is a Spain international and has played for Barcelona before.

Again, he had a good end to last season and has really impressed at Euro 2024.

According to WhoScored, Cucurella is making 3.5 tackles per game in the European Championship.

It would not be a surprise if Barcelona made a move for him at some point in the future.

A lot of Chelsea fans will be hoping that he stays, though, after watching him improve. In the Blues’ final game of the 2024/25 season against Bournemouth, the former Brighton & Hove Albion man made six tackles — no player recorded more during that match.

With all of their financial trouble as well, it is unlikely that Barcelona will be able to afford Cucurella, who cost Chelsea £62m, anyway.
