Enzo Maresca tells Chelsea to drop transfer move for world-class player

Chelsea have ended their pursuit of Victor Osimhen after new manager Enzo Maresca insisted he needed a different type of striker.

Chelsea have long been linked with Napoli striker Osimhen, who as a boy growing up in Lagos followed the Premier League club because of Didier Drogba.

However, former Leicester City boss Maresca has now pulled the plug on this transfer, according to Tutto Mercato

Maresca, who did not get along with another Nigeria striker, Kelechi Iheanacho at Leicester, has already identified another striker the London club should buy.

He is Ukraine international Artem Dovbyk, who features for Spanish La Liga side Girona. He scored 24 goals in all competitions and helped Girona finish third in La Liga to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

His release clause is 40 Million Euros, which is far cheaper than what Chelsea would have had to pay for Osimhen.

The La Liga Goal king will also reunite at Stamford Bridge with fellow Ukraine star Mykhalio Mudryk.
