Ian Maatsen move permanently to Aston Villa

Chelsea star Ian Maatsen who was loaned to Dortmund last season has now moved permanently to Aston Villa this summer transfer window.

Following successful Football League loans at Charlton Athletic, Coventry City and Burnley – the latter of whom he helped to the Championship title – Maatsen returned to Chelsea and was incorporated into the first-team squad ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The left-back made 15 appearances for the Blues before spending the second half of the season on loan at Dortmund, who he helped reach the Champions League final against Real Madrid last month.

Maatsen will now continue his career at Villa Park having agreed a permanent switch to Unai Emery’s side.

We thank Ian for all his efforts at Stamford Bridge and wish him well for the future.

Hakim Ziyech moved to Galatasaray

Hakim Ziyech has completed a permanent transfer to Galatasaray.

Ziyech initially joined the Turkish giants on loan last summer but has now departed Chelsea on a permanent basis.

The 31-year-old signed for Chelsea from Ajax in the summer of 2020 and went on to make 107 appearances. He scored 14 goals for the Blues and won the Champions League, UEFA Super Club and FIFA Club World Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge.

We thank Hakim for his efforts during his time at Chelsea and wish him well as he begins the next chapter of his career.
