Thomas Tuchel leads Chelsea managerial list for Mauricio Pochettino's potential replacement

The departure of Mauricio Pochettino was the third permanent managerial exit from Chelsea since Todd Boehly and his consortium, BlueCo, took ownership in 2022.

Pochettino led Chelsea to a sixth-place finish, securing European football, despite a turbulent first half of the season.

He also guided the team to the Carabao Cup final and the FA Cup semi-final. However, on Tuesday, it was announced that Pochettino and Chelsea had mutually agreed to part ways.

Pochettino’s decision to leave saves Chelsea from paying compensation for terminating his two-year contract early.

The club now begins their search for a new head coach, with several potential candidates already being discussed.

Kieran McKenna, who has successfully led Ipswich Town to back-to-back promotions, bringing them back to the top-flight this season.

Manchester United, where McKenna previously worked as a coach, have shown interest in the 38-year-old.

Roberto De Zerbi, who left Brighton unexpectedly on Sunday after announcing his departure on Friday.

De Zerbi has been linked with Chelsea for some time, and the vacancy could pave the way for his arrival.

Sebastian Hoeness

The 42-year-old has taken Stuttgart to Champions League qualification this season, a remarkable turnaround from narrowly avoiding relegation last year. However, Chelsea would need to negotiate his release from a contract that runs until 2027.

Michel

The Girona manager has also caught attention after guiding the team to a third-place finish in La Liga, ahead of Atletico Madrid. Given Girona’s affiliation with the City Football Group, securing his services could be challenging due to the group’s ties with Manchester City.

Enzo Maresca

After leaving Manchester City to manage Leicester, he led them to the Championship title and secured promotion back to the Premier League. Maresca has two years remaining on his contract with Leicester.

Thomas Tuchel

Despite a previous fallout with Boehly, might be considered. Tuchel, who was sacked in 2022 and replaced by Graham Potter, is now available following his departure from Bayern Munich.

While his return seems unlikely, his availability makes him a potential option.
