Mauricio Pochettino reveals why he skipped Chelsea's lap of appreciation

According to Metro, Mauricio Pochettino remains uncertain about his future at Chelsea, addressing speculation after the team's final Premier League match of the season. The Argentine coach, who has faced a challenging campaign at Stamford Bridge, saw his side secure a sixth-place finish and a spot in European competition next season with a 2-1 win over Bournemouth.

During Sunday’s match, Moises Caicedo opened the scoring with a stunning long-range goal. Both teams scored early in the second half, and Chelsea held on under intense pressure to clinch the victory.

Despite the positive end to the season, Pochettino’s future is still in doubt. He left the pitch before the traditional lap of appreciation, a move that fueled speculation. Explaining his early exit, Pochettino said he needed to attend to media duties and downplayed its significance.

At the post-match press conference, Pochettino stated, "Because there was no time, because Thiago Silva [had a goodbye presentation]. And then when the players started [to do the lap], [press officer] Adrian [Phillips] said I needed to go inside. Maybe now I’ll go and give a tour [of the pitch]."

Regarding a rumored meeting with the club's hierarchy to discuss his future, Pochettino said, "I don’t know if that is going to happen or not. I have no idea about that. On Friday night Todd [Boehly] invited me for a dinner and I think it was a very nice dinner together. But I don’t know about the rumors, about the review or this."

Pochettino also mentioned that his staff would be heading on holiday, while he would stay in London for a few more days, keeping his phone on and door open for any discussions.

In an interview with Sky Sports, when asked about his future, Pochettino responded, "That is a question for the owners and the sporting director." On his involvement in summer transfers, he said, "That is the club, a club decision. And of course always, like I was from the beginning, we are going to be there to help if they want. And if not, we are going to do our job."
