Chelsea drop this manager from their shortlist

As reported on Tuesday, Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino have parted ways, as the Argentine vacated the Chelsea job after just one season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are on the quest to appoint a new manager, and have a number of shortlisted candidates for the managerial job.

According to a report by The Telegraph, Girona boss Michel has been removed from their managerial shortlist.

Michel has been hailed for the job he did at Girona, as he transformed the club who were playing in the Spanish second tier three seasons ago, to now qualify for the Champions League.

According to the report, Sebastian Hoeness and Michel who were initially considered for the Chelsea managerial job, have both been dropped.

The club’s search, led by sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, is now focused on four candidates: Enzo Maresca, Kieran McKenna, Thomas Frank, and an unnamed coach.

Maresca, who recently helped Leicester City return to the Premier League, has a strong connection with Chelsea’s head of recruitment Joe Shields. Despite challenges at Stamford Bridge, all shortlisted candidates are reportedly interested in the position.
