Chelsea beat Man United in transfer race to sign Argentina star

Manchester United will have to compete to capture this fantastic young talent from Argentina because Chelsea has entered the competition to sign the defender. This season, United has had trouble in the back because of a lot of injuries and poor defensive work.

Furthermore, it appears that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his crew are looking to sign Boca Juniors player Aaron Anselmino as a central defender, as veteran center-back Raphael Varane has already announced his resignation from the team. The Red Devils have been watching the 19-year-old center defender for a few months, and AC Milan has also shown interest in him.

However, it appears that Chelsea is ready to compete with United for the teen's services. Since the trade of Todd Boehly in 2022, the Blues have had a major impact in South American soccer by acquiring players such as Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez and Ecuadorian Moises Caicedo.

Anselmo David Washington and Andrey Santos are just two more examples of Chelsea's preference for signing young players from South America. According to Mail Online, Anselmino is currently the center of attention. The teenage talent may need more than £16 million before Chelsea and United can persuade him to leave his home country.

Included in the January contract extension Anselmino signed with Boca was a $20 million (£15.72 million) release clause. But a month later, he changed his terms once more, and the clause was removed. The most recent team to show interest in the Argentine center-back is Chelsea.

The Argentine team seems to think the young defender is more valuable than they had previously thought. Given that both United and the Blues are battling for Boca's signature and have expressed a great degree of interest in the young player, his asking price shouldn't prevent any deal.
