Pep Guardiola speaks on 1-1 draw with Chelsea

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reacted to their home draw to Chelsea at Etihad yesterday as his team went from conceding a goal in the first half to securing a draw at full-time.

Guardiola was expecting something different yesterday when he set up a killer team that involved De Bruyne, Haaland, Alvarez, Doku, and Foden in the attack. But Chelsea managed to keep these players silent in the first half and lead by 1-0. Thanks to Raheem Sterling's strike. The former City player scored from Jackson's assist.

In the second half, Manchester City came out stronger and pressured Chelsea's defence. They were able to get the equalizer through Rodri's deflected strike. The Spaniard's goal ensured that the points were shared at full-time.

However, according to Blue_Footy via X, Pep Guardiola speaks on why they couldn't beat Chelsea when he said: "We knew it [Chelsea would be a challenge]. That was a good game. We played incredible in the second half. The first half was not our level but to compete against them teams you have to play 90 minutes not just one half.

In summary, Guardiola said they could not win the game because they didn't compete well for 90 minutes as they had a bad first half and were only incredible in the second half.

Pep on Palmer, "If Palmer had the minutes I gave to Foden from the beginning, he would be at Man City".

"But I didn’t give it to him, it’s my responsibility".

"Why? Because I had Bernardo, Mahrez, Foden... it was that in that moment, I chose the other ones".
