Djorde Petrovic sends painful message to Chelsea teammates after Carabao cup final defeat

Chelsea goalkeeper, Djorde Petrovic has admitted he feels hurt by the pain and disappointment of the Blues losing the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool in the manner they did.

Chelsea conceded a late goal from Virgil van Dijk in extra time of the Wembley clash to hand Liverpool their 10th EFL trophy overall.

The Blues played very well in the original 90 minutes of the game, and even created some really good chances, but they just couldn’t score. And in extra time when everyone expected them to continue attacking Liverpool, Chelsea sat back and tried to defend, but the plan just backfired.

Giving his reaction to the result in a post-match interview, Petrovic said (via Evening Standard): “The feeling is very painful.

“It was a first final for a lot of us, also here at Wembley.

“The atmosphere was amazing and we really felt the supporters with us. We must use this feeling, because this is a new generation and we want to keep the success of this club.

“We are not happy and it hurts. We left everything on the pitch. The team put in a lot of effort and we had a lot of opportunities — we hit the post and had chances to kill the game, but we couldn’t do it.

“Then we concede the very late goal, and that one detail changes everything, as we don’t have time to stop them from lifting the trophy. Now we have to get our heads up and think about Wednesday.”

Petrovic had a good game for Chelsea in the final, and should be proud of how far he has come.
