Mykhalo Mudryk has been slammed as the ‘worst transfer in history’ after the Ukrainian fluffed his lines with a golden opportunity on Thursday evening.
Mudryk at Chelsea arrived with a lot of promise from Shakhtar Donetsk back in January. However, the attacking midfielder has failed to live up to his lofty price tag – and Thursday could be the final straw for some fans.
Chelsea had travelled up north to face Manchester United, and early in the clash, Lewis Hall had broken through the Red Devils’ defence. However, when he squared the ball to Mudryk, the Ukrainian spooned the shot wide – causing fury on social media.
“He may come good but that Mudryk deal looks like the worst deal in history,” one fan fumed. A second added: “We can all agree that Mykhalo Mudryk is the worst signing of the season, right?”
“Havertz and Mudryk aren’t even championship level. Horrible footballers,” a third fumed. While a fourth tweeted: “Mudryk is horrible man he needs some serious training, technical inconsistencies, doesn’t know how to receive the ball as a winger, finishing is horrible!”
“It’s the first time ever I’m watching Mudryk play, wow the poor boy is awful isn’t he,” a fifth tweeted. And another added: “Mudryk could turn out to be the worst signing ever when you consider the fee!”
Chelsea have experienced a torrid season, and the Blues are heading into the summer without a permanent manager.
Since the start of March, the Blues have won just two games – against Leeds and Bournemouth – and they’ve fallen down the Premier League table, with Frank Lampard’s side are currently 12th on 43 points.
