Said Benrahma to Chelsea Brentford confirm transfer fee as shirt number leaked

Said Benrahma to Chelsea Brentford confirm transfer fee as shirt number leaked. The 2020 summer transfer window is now officially open for business and a busy few months are set to lie ahead for Chelsea.

After securing a top-four finish in the Premier League this season with a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, the Blues secured themselves a place in next season’s Uefa Champions League.

That achievement is likely to give the Blues a greater chance of adding further talent to their squad this summer, with the club having already sealed deals for Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

Next on the Blues’ hit list is set to be Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz, with the West London club having identified the 21-year-old Germany international as their primary target.

But plenty of other names are continuing to be linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge, including a move for Brentford winger Said Benrahma.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Bees two years ago, has been one of the Championship’s stand-out performers in 2019/20 and is not short on suitors ahead of next season, including interest from Chelsea.

With that in mind, here is a close look at everything we know so far about the Blues’ pursuit of the Brentford star.

Transfer ‘confirmed’

As reported by football.london, the Blues are among several clubs to have watched the Algeria international closely this season and scouts were in attendance at Griffin Park when the Bees took on Wigan Athletic earlier this month.

Benrahma stole the show with a sublime hat-trick to show why he’s on the radar of the west London outfit.

And a few days later it appeared the Blues had concluded a deal for the attacking midfielder as was congratulated on a move to Frank Lampard’s side already.

During an Instagram live, his friend Fahd Moufi wrote in the comments: “Congratulations on Chelsea my brother…”

It seemed Moufi had ‘confirmed’ the Said Benrahma to Chelsea transfer, but there’s been no confirmation from any of the three relevant parties.

Dream shirt number

Should transfer guru Marina Granovskaia, conclude a deal for Benrahma, it could see him land his favourite shirt number at Chelsea.

Currently, Benrahma wears No.10 at Brentford, a number he has held since the start of this season after former Blues youngster Josh McEachran left Griffin Park at the end of last season.

Before that, though, the winger, who has donned numbers 17 and 18 whilst on international duty for Algeria, wore No.21 in his first season at Brentford.

However, it appears as though No.10 is Benrahma’s preferred shirt number, with the winger having worn it on loan at Chateauroux in 2017/18.

Therefore, should Benrahma seal a switch to Stamford Bridge he would be in with a chance of landing his favourite kit number once again, with Willian – the current occupier of No.10 at Chelsea – poised to leave the club at the end of this season.
