RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner agree to join Chelsea

RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has reportedly made his mind about his future amid Chelsea’s interest which forces the Blues to seek alternatives.

Raking 30 goals and nine assists for Leipzig in all competitions this season, the clinical 24-year-old would be a dream signing for a lot of clubs, including Chelsea.

SportBild’s head of football Christian Falk said on Twitter a couple of days ago that Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger tried to convince Werner to come to Stamford Bridge.

The two are friends as they played together at Stuttgart and still often share the dressing room at Germany national team.

However, operation ‘agent Rudiger’ has apparently failed to bring the result.

According to a report from Goal, Werner’s preference will be to wait for Liverpool to complete a deal or remain with Leipzig for another season.

Interestingly, Liverpool also reportedly played the same card, with manager Jurgen Klopp having reportedly been in contact with the striker via video call (Forbes).

Goal‘s report also added that Lyon’s Moussa Dembele is considered a viable alternative to Werner and Chelsea have a decent chance to land the 23-year-old.

Lyon finished outside the Champions League places after Ligue 1’s early ending, and it could force them to sell their stars this summer, including Dembele.

The former Fulham striker has had 22 goals and two assists across all competitions this season and is ranked third on the top-scoring chart with 16 league goals.
