Kingsley Ehizibue Hopes To Pledge Future to Nigeria

Nigerian-Dutch professional footballer Kingsley Ehizibue says his decision to pledge his international future to Nigeria didn’t come easy as he has to contemplate several variables before making up his mind.

Ehizibue was invited for the first time to the senior national team of Nigeria for the game against Sierra Leone which was suppose to be an AFCON 2021 Qualifiers game but the tie was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping through the world.

The FC Köln defender played for the Netherlands in a friendly game meaning he won’t be needing any international clearance to play for Nigeria even at that he thought about it heavily before making up his mind.

” It wasn’t an easy decision for me because I was close links with the Netherlands even though I have always acknowledge my Nigerian roots. The option to play for Nigeria appeals to me beyond what many think as it will make my parents very happy “, he said.

The 24-year-old Ehizibue who plays as a right back for FC Köln has caught the eyes this season with strong performances that has led to talks about a possible move to Borussia Dortmund as a possible replacement for Achraf Hakimi who is set to return to Real Madrid after spending two seasons on loan at Dortmund.
