NAN reports that Olaitan Shittu, the Minister’s delegate, Sunday Dare, disclosed this in Ijagbo, near Offa, Kwara State, on Wednesday.
He also delivered gifts from Ramadan to the elderly mother of the late player, which included a sack of 50 kg of rice, a pack of 10 kg of wheat, and six tins of drinks.
Shittu also announced that the Minister had paid a visit to the elderly mother of the late Yekini in September 2019.
He also promised that this goodwill will also be granted to the mother of the late Super Eagles player, Samuel Okwaraji, who left the world on August 12, 1989.
Reacting, Alhaja Yekini, who spoke in Yoruba, said, “I have been abandoned for a long time and have seen no support from anyone.
“Two months ago and last month, I was hospitalized for a few days. In spite of inadequate resources, I catered for myself. I need the support of the Nigerians.
“This minister did very well, particularly remembering me in this holy month of Ramadan. It’s been really difficult for me since my son died, and I don’t have any support from others.
“Rashidi’s siblings are not doing well, so every day I was left to struggle for life,” said the mother of the player who died in Ibadan on 4 May 2012.
It can be recalled that late Rashidi Yekini scored 37 goals for the 58-game super eagles earning many laurels in the process
