Nigerian legend Rashidi Yekini departed this world exactly eight (8) years ago, however, his daughters Rashidat and Omoyemi Yekini have continued to be keeping their father’s name alive as maintaining the good name of their dad.

Omoyemi Yekini

Omoyemi is a graduate of the University of Ilorin, having graduated with a degree in English at the ‘Better by Far’ institution in 2019.

The beautiful lady is a carbon copy of her dad, who is remembered worldwide for his iconic celebration at the 1994 World Cup when he scored Nigeria’s first-ever goal at the Mundial against Bulgaria.

Rashidat Yekini

London-born Rashidat was 17-year-old when she lost her dad in 2012.

She has grown into a very beautiful lady and in 2017, she graduated with distinction in Cinematography from De Montfort University.

Rashidat, who is also known as Yemisi was also named the second-best overall graduating student from the institution.

Rashidi Yekini

Yekini played for several European clubs, but his biggest impact was when he was a player of Portuguese club Vitoria Setubal.

He produced some unforgettable moments there as he won the Portuguese League Golden boot in 1994 with 21 goals.

In 114 matches, he scored 91 goals and his sensational scoring record earned him the title of African Footballer of the Year in 1993 – the first-ever by any Nigerian.

Yekini was also the top scorer at the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, where Nigeria won its second title.

Continue to rest in peace Yekini as your daughters are making you proud.
